Mumbai Indians win WPL title, beat Delhi in finals by 8 runs
Bharatpur’s Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir has officially responded to the show-cause notice issued by the party’s Disciplinary Committee. On Saturday morning, he submitted a two-page reply to Cabinet Minister and Disciplinary Committee Chairman Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, making it clear that he would not apologize for his remarks. Kabir maintained that his statements did not violate party discipline and stood by his comments.
The controversy arose after Kabir made certain remarks targeting opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari. The Trinamool leadership sought an explanation, and Sobhandeb personally called him on Friday night regarding the issue. Kabir, who initially requested time until Monday, decided to submit his response a day earlier. He confirmed that he received the show-cause notice around 8:12 PM on Friday and immediately reviewed it.
Kabir stated that the notice was based on only 31 seconds of a 10-minute, 29-second speech. He claimed he was specifically asked to explain that portion while the rest of his speech was ignored. His response reiterated that his party position was secondary to his personal identity. “They sent me a one-page show-cause letter, and I replied with a two-page response. I stated that the party is not my top priority. I am Humayun Kabir first,” he said.
With the reply submitted, the next course of action now rests with the Trinamool Disciplinary Committee. The party has not yet disclosed whether further action will be taken against Kabir. His stance and response have added to ongoing internal discussions within the party leadership.
